"I bought a used 2006 Taurus SE 3 years ago and I have to say it's been the best overall car that I've had. I've had virtually no maintenance problems or repairs and it keeps running smoothly no matter what climate or conditions it seems to encounter. The only problem I have had was an idling problem which was cured by having a computer update made to the powertrain, at a cost of under $150.00. The interior is comfortable for long trips, the AC and heating are supreme and have had no problems at all. If I would improve anything, it would be adding ABS as this causes a few minor handling problems, but nothing major if one is knowledgeable in how to correct them. The car is well suited for highway travel and slightly less for stop and go city travel as the mileage for this decreases quite a lot from the highway mileage. It drives well and does well on regular grade gas so it is more economical than cars that require a higher grade of gas."

"I bought this car off my buddy for 6500 with 70,000 on it. The cars worth every penny and then some. The ride is fairly smooth, but i would say that it can get bumpy at times. It handles turns and brakes better than some of the camrys and corollas ive test driven. But both those cars are more fuel efficent. I get 24 mpg, the toyotas get around 30.
So far ive had no problems, im at 120,000 miles. You get the biggest bang for your buck with the old taurus, i would definately recommend to anyone. The cars handling was the biggest surprise. It's Excellent"

"This is not a high class BMW or Lexus, but it is a beautiful car for the money. Rides great, if you don't plan on racing with it. Inside is well designed for room and comfort. The leather is very clean looking and comfortable. All of the controls are easy to reach from the drivers seat. The optional moonroof adds a nice touch on a beautiful summer day. Over all, I would recommend this car to anyone that wants the biggest bang for the buck."

"Car has 92,000 on it. I haven't done anything except oil changes. I bought the car with 70,000 miles on it 7 months ago. While the car has been good for the last 7 months, I can't take the ride and lack of comfort any longer. I need my Honda back. If you are on a budget, this is a good car. If you can afford a couple extra grand, get something else. This car is made to prove that people WANT to be cheap. Otherwise I can't see a reason why someone would want to drive one. To the lady who said she traded her Accord in to get another Taurus, I wish we had met. I would of happily swapped you cars."

"I own a 2006 Taurus SE. Got the car in April of 06 with 12K on it. Did my "carfax" search and found out that it had been a fleet car. Dealership certified it and extended the factory warranty to 75K. Out the door for around $12,000 It is now May of 08 and have 50K+ miles. I have not had any mechanical problems at all. I do all the regular maintenance myself at the suggested intervals. Did first brake job last weekend. Great thing about these cars is that parts are easy to find and not complicated. I think the simplicity helps in the reliability factor, but also leads to poor fit and finish. Exterior door moldings don't line up, interior door plastics starting to come loose, some rattles, etc.. In the end I am more concerned about mechanical reliability than fit and finish. Car rides and drives great for what it is. Best thing of all is that it is just about paid for!"

"i previously owned a 1997 ford taurus, from 2001 until 2003 i was in a pretty bad accident with it and walked away unharmed. At which time it had 83,000 miles, and the only things i had done to the car were new tires, oil changes, wiper blades and breaks, and that was in about 40,000 miles of use. After wrecking this car i had switched to a honda accord, i recently traded the accord in and now own a 2006 Taurus, this car rides very smoothly has great pick up and gets great gas mileage for the size of the engine, much quieter and smoother than the accord i owned. It's also a much better value, for 12,000 i was able to buy a 2006 Taurus with 30,000 miles and a 4yr 40,000 mile full new car warranty, it's an sel model and has leather seats, cd system, and a sun roof, for that kind of money you wouldn't get those features on a Accord, also it's much roomier than my Accord and can actually fit 5 people with out cramming, and still maintains good pickup with the 5 people, where as my Accord would struggle in that area."

"I bought my 06 SEL sedan in June of this year (2007) with 27k mi.. 6 months later, she's still running strong with 36k. My parents do complain i ride her 2 much with it only being nearly 2 yrs old, but hey i'm 17, i'm gonna ride... But anyway, love the comfort, she handles well going around most corners between 40-60 MPH. I get surprisingly good fuel economy 24.8 MPG average. This SEL is loaded with all the good features, wood trim, cd, sunroof and the rare spoiler. I do wish I had traction control and ABS... but oh well. All in all I plan to hold on to this Taurus for quite a long time."

"Great general purpose vehicle *decent looks *decent performance *good reliability *vesatility I have driven a 2001 Taurus for five years. The only time it has let me down was in Oatman Arizonia with a dead battery. Mine has the fold down rear seat, which allows it to function much like a station wagon."

"Bought froman aunt, I was not sure if i would like it, it turns out I love it, got it with 120,000 miles, now it's got 150,000 miles and still runs perfectly, i have only replaced tires and wipers, guess it's good for an used car, great MPG. "I rented this car for a recent family vacation (with wife and 2 kids) and put about 900 miles on it, so I think I've got a pretty good feel for the car.
The basic performance of the car was acceptable. It accelerated fine, provided a smooth ride and had no significant problems.
The car wasn't especially comfortable, and the interior and exterior design are pretty drab.
One thing that bugged us: the car alarm kept getting activated, not by us, but by the car, even if we were in it. It had something to do with putting the key in the ignition (or maybe removing the key) while people stayed inside the car. We couldn't figure it out. But there were a few times where the alarm got activated and the car would start honking repeatedly when someone opened the door. It was annoying and embarrassing."

"I purchased a 2001 Taurus named "Bluebell" in 2002 with 62K mil. It was, and still is a wonderful vehicle. Only two major repairs in the five years I owned it-struts and ignition switch. Car was sold w/ 110K mil to a neighbor who was in desperate need of a car. Regular maintenance ensured them at least another 50K + miles. Last check on the mil from the neighbor is 120K."

"This car runs great, we just can't afford it anymore. The owner lost his job and we want to try to sell the car. There is a small dent on the hood, but no interior damage. His dad is a retired auto mechanic and he has looked at it and checked everything to make sure it is perfect."

"I bought a used 1994 Ford Tauras in 2001 I was warned on what to look for, ie shifting points on the 5 speed autonatc I stated away from the3.8 engine. This was a staion wagon GL. It had been in a accident I could tell by looking at the cross support beam but it was minor. I used this car as my own company vehile before 9-11 as a transport vehicle as I had opened a full range pet/animal service. This Car had 75,00 miles on it when bought. I thougt it was the right vehicle I needed and in that aspect it worked well before I closed the bussiness -aftar the 9-11 atacks. Nobody traveled and that was my main source off income. If I had only known that the 1993 thru 1995 Taurus were the worst ones ever bult. I put 2 transmissins in it ,The first one went out 90 miles away near crestline Ca. I had a new one put in. In the 2 years I had it the Raditor,Heater core ,waterpump, plus the a/c was repared or replaced. Would I recomond this car to someone elese? Only if Ford has improved the The qualty off the car and it was a 2000 model or later. If they have not upgraded the car I would NEVER recmond this car to anybody."

"I purchased a 2000 Ford Taurus and I am very happy with it. I was involved in a car accident the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and my car really took a bad hit. The whole back of my car was smashed and the person who ran into me, a Dodge Ram 2002 was stuck in the trunk of my car. I would buy another Taurus but unfortunely they are phasing out this model. It is a great family car and rides quite smooth. My husband and two sons took my car to a golf tournament. The trunk held four golf bags and their luggage. It handles the turns very smoothly and it is very roomy. Even my sons ask to use this car when they need to drive something with room. My Taurus is a SES model, V-6 with automatic trans. It gets great gas milage and this is very important with the price of gas now a days. I always have the oil changed every 3,000 miles. Other then the oil changes and the tires I haven't had to have any maintenance done on my Taurus. It has over 60,000 miles on it. I expect it to last well for over 100,000. Maybe by that time they will bring the Taurus back for a repeat sale. :)"
