"My wife and I bought our 4wd 2008 Jeep Patriot in 2009 and we have enjoyed driving it these past 4 years. Unfortunately we have grown out of it with the addition of our son and recently traded it in on a 2012 Dodge journey. The Patriot is an absolute tank in the snow. I have driven it through as much as 3 feet of snow without getting stuck. The patriot never left us stranded in any circumstance including Hurricane Irene. We always got 25 miles per gallon and features like an actual power outlet made traveling great. At 85,000 we had to put new tie rod ends and ball joints on the Patriot. If you read the reviews you'll see this is pretty standard. The only bad thing I have to say for our patriot is that it burned through rear tires like crazy. We had to replace the rear tires every 6 months. No I didn't rotate the tires but I also didn't want to replace all 4 at once. The other kinda negative thing is that it accelerates like it has an anchor attached to it. 0 to 60 is slow, but once its at speed it runs great."

"I am averaging a trip to the shop and about $400.00 every 3 months. Now my 2008 Patriot, which has 67, 000 miles on it, needs a new CVT transmission. NOONE works on them, not even Jeep. They cannot be fixed, even if the problem is a small pin, they will only replace them at the reasonable price of $3,700 for a new one. Good luck finding a used one. We have replaced the tire rods and tie rod ends twice in 2 years, no off roading required! This thing has been nothing but a headache with 2 kids and a lot of miles to drive everyday I need a reliable vehicle. This is not it!"

"I bought my Patriot direct from the factory in sept. 07. It was nice looking and I really liked the leg room and the lifetime warrenty of the CVT transmission. Overall I was happy with my Jeep. However this past year 2011, i have had to get a new water pump(covered under the warrenty of the tranny??) Ive had to get a new control arm installed and now it is in the shop for the engine jumping around at 20 mph and 40 mph. I really like my jeep but I am contemplating trading it in, not a nother jeep though, they just dont seem to be as durable as their name once was. There is only 80,000 miles on it. I will be getting a second set of tires for it which good year is the only brand that makes this particular size, so the cost is outrageous for a tire. Is anybodyeles having these issue?? I have 2 family members who liked my Jeep and have purchased their own this past year. I feel bad for them that in the future they may run into the same problems as I have."

"Great Truck! Great ride! Has Skid plates on trail rated model like mine! The Hard plastic are terrible! no soft armrest. Did i mention the hard plastics... MPG's are great!!! came from PT Cruiser and needed more space so I landed on this Jeep. PT got 22mpg. My 4WD Jeep that holds 2 times the stuff is getting 24mpg! on really long trips 26 to 27mpg! Have 30K on and besides routine Maint. hasn't needed a thing. Good power off idle and gets going quicker then my PT as well. Seats are great just the Hard plastics are not good for elbows.... Goes great in the snow with the 2 speed transfer case too!"

"I bought this vehicle new from the dealer and I have loved it. The only problems I have had is my rear shocks leaking, which the dealership fixed under warranty, and also just recently I had to have the alternator replaced, another jeep dealer did this under my lifetime warranty. I love the stain resistant cloth, because in TX you don't have to worry about the seats being too hot, or the seats cracking from the heat like leather or vinyl. Overall I love this Jeep and will keep it till it can no longer be repaired."

"I bought my Patriot with 17k miles. It was a former rental and from what I cleaned out of the spare tire well, used off road on the beach.
Aside from some paint defects, this vehicle has proven to be an outstanding value. I use it for work, I'm self employed, and it handles all my gear perfectly. We also use it to travel to our ski home and while it is not as comfortable ride as the Town & Country it replaced, it certainly gets better milage.
In the summer, it goes off road at the beach, sometimes plowing through 13 to 14 inches of soft sand. We have been stuck once or twice and the unique 4WD system (not trail rated version) is strange to say the least. No wheel spins when the vehicle gets "beached" on a sand build up under it. But a quick clearing with a shovel and away she goes.
It has to be the smallest vehicle out on the beach. Yet it does just fine. I never would have believed it until we tried it.
Only drawback has been the Federally mandated tire valves. Overpriced, fragile (broke off in the snow) and a knee jerk reaction to another vehicle's poor design. Replaced them all with standard valves after the third one broke. $70 for a tire valve is absurd."

"So after my car wreck in June. I was looking for a SUV that was good on gas mileage, reliable, and stylish. I like to call this Jeep the car of Jeeps. I drive about 60 to and from work and I only have to fill up once a week. We also had some strong winter storms here in Texas and driving in this Jeep made me feel a lot better while trying to drive on the ice. I would say if you are looking for a starter Jeep this is it!!!
I found all of that in this 2008 Jeep Patriot. I bought my car from Volkswagon of Lewisville. They are so Awesome there!!! They really really took care of me.
I had an HORRIBLE experince at TEXAS NISSAN of GRAPEVILLE where they were giving me the run around and they didn't listen to anything that I had to say. I went into them and told them I was looking for the 2cars that I found on cars.com and before I could even show them the picture they were trying to run my credit so they could get the loan. I already had financing threw my credit union but they wouldnt listen. Then they advised me that the two cars that I came in to see were sold a week ago. When I asked them why when I called yesterday the person on the phone told me that it was on the lot they said they don't know anything. They just on the phone. I was so shocked!!! I will NEVER go back to them. Not even if they were giving away FREE cars!!!"

"If you want water issues, buy a Jeep Patriot! 3 yrs of one water issue after the other. water POURING from back dome light 2x's water POURING from front dome, MAJOR water collecting behind drivers seat unknowingly until mold from moisture grew! Tailgate collecting water inside panel, front wheel well seam not sealed allowing water to collect behind drivers seat.
Before I buy another car, I will research on web for "Problems"!"

"I bought a 2008 Jeep Patriot Sport.
The Good Side: Great MPG, Great Size, Doesn't take long for A/C to kick in, and Great Overall Car!
The Not-So-Good Side: not so comfortable, brakes squeak ver loudly. Seat Warmers take forever!
I am a single Mother and a fulltime student...i just needed a car that i could take my kids around in and i could rely on and that would be able to take me from point a to point b with no trouble!
There are some flaws, but overall...Great Car!"

"I bought my Jeep Patriot brand new a year and a half ago.
It has been a very nice vehicle that gets me from point A to point B just fine, though it often does not have the get-up-and-go that I am looking for.
It has been a reliable Jeep, but did stall on me once at a traffic light (though it did restart right away).
I would recommend this to my friends or anyone who does not mind having a smaller engine."

"While I'm happy with the gas mileage I'm unhappy with the fact that I have 16,000 miles over a year and half and the jeep makes a loud humming noise. The roof leaks during the winter and the closest service center is two cities away , because they took the dealership away from where I purchased it, and they are open when I work and closed when Im off and dont provide a rental car. Thank GOD this vehicle is leased, I will not be purchasing it."

"I have had 3 Cherokees starting in 88 a 92 and 96. Also had a Grand Wagoneer for about 500 barrels of oil. It got 8-10mpg with a 10 gallon tank. The cherokees all got 19or20mpg and the patriot gets 26 unless my wife drives then 23. Got 28.8 out of one tank. It has handled some impressive spots off road, as well as any of my cherokees and it is very comfortable at high speed, 80-90 on the interstates, unlike the cherokees. Not the race car off the line that the I-6 powered cherokees were but the mileage makes up for it. Got the bumper to bumper lifetime warranty and I will be running this one for a long time. CVT takes a little getting used to for the off the line racers but the manual shift feature lets you rev it up a little. Handles great, excellent off-road (where I go- East Valley Road in MD) and great mileage.Everybody go buy one!"

"Aside from house and husband, this is the best purchase I could have made. I took weeks to decide what vehicle to buy. I looked at Escape, Trailblazer (loved my 98 Blazer), Equinox, but my heart belongs to Jeep. This is my second, have an 87 AMC with 216,000 miles.
A month after purchasing we took a driving vacation around New England. Not one single problem except for the change oil reminder when I hit close to 3000 miles. Called the service department, they explained how to disable and sent me to the nearest service center on my route for a free oil change.
Ride is comfortable, mileage is wonderful, roomy, manuverability is great. The only problem I have with the design is the pull up door locks. Don't plan on laying your arm across the door with the window open. The door locks are in the absolutely worse spot and jab right into your upper arm.
Definitely planning more Jeep purchases in the future."

"We bought our Jeep Patriot for driving on snowy roads and light hauling. It's been a good choice for both. It takes a bit of adjusting for me at under five feet to make it comfortable to drive. "I bought my 2008 Patriot Sport with Manual Trans straight across for my 2007 Honda LX Coupe because I wanted a Jeep with good gas mileage.
The is the fourth Jeep we have owned and liked our 98 Cherokee but saw it was beginning to cost to much to keep on the road, so I traded for the Honda. The Honda was a nice car but after driving in recent snow, and a 900 mile trip to Denver I can say the Patriot is the best Jeep I have ever owned. It handles well, has good comfort and features, great brakes, and has the great Jeep style. The mileage is averaging at 26.5 city/highway and I couldn't be happier.""

"I recently traded in my Volkswagen GLI for a new Jeep Patriot. I was looking for something with more room that handled better in the snow. Even though the dealer assured me I was downgrading, I think I upgraded big time. The seats in the Jeep are actually more comfortable than the Jetta, it handles amazingly in the snow (my husband claims better than any other Jeep and we have owned 4) and for the base model it has great ammenities such as 4wd, ac and a temperature display. If you are looking for a luxury vehicle this isn't it, but if you enjoy the old jeep style, reliability and a great value you should definitely purchase this car!"
