"I got the Sequoia after baby number 3 arrived and the Acura MDX just wasn't big enough. I considered the Land Cruiser (not big enough), the LR3 (reliability issues), and the Mercedes GL 450 (not quite big enough and cumbersome to gain access to third row in comparison to Sequoia). I had previously rented a Suburban for a week while on vacation and didn't like it at all - too coarse and truckish. I really didn't love the Sequoia as it just seemed too big to me and the front end and bulging hood were just too truck-like for my taste. Nevertheless, it beat-out the others I was considering when I lined up the pros and cons. Also, I recently exchanged the chrome front grille for a color-matching grille (a 2009 Sequoia option - part of a "sport" option - which fit my '08), which makes the front far less intimidating and less truck-like in my opinion.
The Sequoia a great highway cruiser with the family and luggage in tow -- it is quiet and comfortable. The amount of space inside is incredible, particularly after being used to the considerable care in packing I had to take with the MDX.
We did a 700 mile trip (each way) and it seemed surprisingly easy in the Sequoia -- the rear DVD is a must with kids in the back. I took the Sequoia off road recently too and it did fine -- I spun the tires a few times and had to back-up a couple of times but I always felt in control and confident. I never needed to lock the center diff but was glad to know I could if necessary.
In city driving, the Sequoia is merely OK, the problem being that it's a big truck. The view out is good, so changing lanes is fine; and the truck has a strong engine, so moving about and accelerating is no problem. While the Sequoia is about 15 inches shorter than a Suburban and only 3-4 inches longer than most minivans, it is wide and tall and just feels big in city traffic.

"I recently traded an 08 Lexus GX in for the Sequoia and I couldnt be happier. For about the same price you get much more. Ok, you dont get wood grain or auto wipers but who cares. You get auto back door, auto fold third row seats amd tons of space. I was not happy with the GX because you pay $$$$ for wood grain. I dont notice any more road noise than the gx. This is a great SUV if you go witht the Platinum."

"Great turning radius. Love all the 1000 cup holders all over the car. Electric fold down seats are great, don't have to remove the third seats like the Suburban. Hauls a lot of stuff. The seats are very firm and comfortable. Only complaint, I have short legs, so the seats are a little too long. Gauges are easy see. Gas mileage are a little less that expected, but will purchase another one. Love the heated seats."

"Too much $$$ for for a truck. Yes this is a truck.
I bought a 2008 Platinum. I buy a new vehicle every 2 1/2 Years. My last was a GX 470. I have every availabe option on the Sequoia, the bluetooth is terrible, the road noise is about the same as one of my Ford work trucks, the whole vehicle feels cheaply made. there is no insulation under the hood,in the doors or any where else.
The gas milage is about 13.5 overall. I'm thinking about going to the Buick Enclave or Cadillac Esclade and taking the loss . Its a big spacious vehicle but it should be priced in the high $40,000's loaded .I looked a Land Cruiser thought that it did not have much more room than my GX. The 2008 LX is the same size and that loaded is way too expenesive for a vehicle I would keep for under three years.I will say this though. I put 64,000 miles on my GX without putting one dime other than maintance. No new brakes, no new tires, nothing . I beleive that this Sequoia with the right driver will do the same. If Toyota added some frills, changed the dash, and up graded a few things. They will take a lot of customers looking for this size vehicle away from GM and Ford and Infinity.

"bought this car for good MPG in the full size SUV market. Boy was i wrong. I average 16 highway and 10 in the city.
the exterior is a bit fat and buldgy for my taste. it handles ok i guess for a big truck.
it does tend to roll more in corners than the Expdedition and turning could be tighter. the third row is big but not bigger than the Expeditions. The truck accelerates good and have good passing power but still has that slow sluggish feel (which most SUVs have) overall this is a good truck but the Expedition fits me better. I plan to trade it in.

"I've been a Toyota fan since my 1985 Celica when I was just 17. Twenty-fours years and nine Toyotas later (including 2 Corollas, a Camry, Sienna, 4Runner, Highlander Hybrid and a 2004 Sequoia), the 2008 Sequoia is clearly my favorite. It's roomy, comfortable and VERY stylish. From the approximately 1000 cup holders, laser cruise control, Navigation system with Bluetooth and backup camera, to the heated and cooled seats, killer sound system and 2nd row captain's chairs, this SUV rocks! I chose the Platinum edition in black with graphite interior. I'd definitely recommend this vehicle: 2 thumbs up!"

"I was reasearching on big size cars and i finally found the best one. This suv beats ford or any other automaker in the world the power is among the best 0-60 is the same as the turbo charged 400 horsepower land rover range rover. My friend has a surburban with 6.2 vortec max v-8 so we each put a 10,000 pound traler and had a race. my sequoia beat a by a land slide and later we went to a toyota dealer and he traded in his burb for a sequoia and there were alot of ford cars there if you know what i mean."

"This is a gas guzzler. The size is intimidating and front looks rugged. However, the exterior and interior design still lacks the luxury feel when compared to other SUV's in the price range. Wood grain and assessories look cheap. Poor acceleration. I settled for the Buick Enclave after test driving the Toyota "Excursion.""

"The size and aggressive look is the attraction .All the luxury features that one can think of are available at the Platinum level. There are lots of functions and options that are not evident unless you read the manual. Avoid adding options on a lower level as the price is cheaper when you opt for the Limited or Platinum. Very comfortable at any seat and row. You will enjoy the Sequoia when riding on a longer trip with more people to appreciate the space and comfort."
