"Having owned a 2011 Hyundai Sonota for a year, I looked at Hyundai/Kia for a replacement for another car. Hyundai dealers did not have a Santa Fe with the equipment I was looking for, but Kia did.
What a great choice. It has everything you could possibly want, and has been reliable and trouble free for 10 months. I would recommend anyone to look at a Hyundai or Kia for their next vehicle. Oh, and they both have a fantastic warranty!!"

"I have been driving the SX 2012 for a month now. Coming from a VW jetta manual I was afraid of missing the fun of driving. I have to admit that the Sorento has surprised me. It is fun to drive, safe on passing other cars and has a sports feeling when you are a the wheel. Inside it has all the fun stuff, panoramic sunroof, garage opener, backup camera...and the looks are great for a car of this price (it seems the designer is the same as Audi uses). Easy access to phone, radio etc...
The gas consumption is not as good as I though. I was never able to make the 26 MPG that they say in highways, even with speeds of 65 mph. I ended up doing around 21 or 22MPG, but I guess that the kind of thing I have to give up for the 6 cylinder power."

"Overall the car for the money is good. However, the GDI engines were estimated to give a much high MPG than what it really gets. 20 MPG on the highway is more of the average I have been getting on the highways. Kia acknowledge this problem and has been paying back owners gas dollars. There is a big difference between the power of the V6 and the 4-cylinder. They get the same gas mileage so buy the V6."

"Its been very comfortable and user friendly -- love it!
People, please stop bashing the MPG numbers with this vehicle. Our Sorento vehicle gets the MPG figures, as advertised. I bet there is a direct corrolation between those who get "poor" MPG and bad driving habits ("jack-rabbit" acceleration, braking too hard, using AC or heat too much, and yes, texting while driving, etc). I also own a Kia Optima SX Turbo and I average 30-32 MPG per tank...let me repeat that - over 30 MPG with a Turbo! If you improve your driving habits, then your "real world" MPG numbers will go up considerably. Otherwise, the vehicle is fine so far...a great value for the money."

"I've been behind the wheel of my new 2012 Kia Sorento SX with the 6 cyl engine for about a month now. So far I'm very pleased. The car handles great and has all of the bells and whistles for a VERY reasonable price. I'm sure Lexus people will be offended, but the SX is basically an RX 350 at a fraction of the cost. The heated seats work much better than my old Honda Pilot and this Kia is much more fun to drive. I sacrificed a little on size, but that's not a big deal unless you have a large family or go traveling with a ton of stuff. My kids are all under 10 years old and it fits us just fine.
On the down side, the gas mileage so far hasn't been what I hoped for. Reports say you get 20 city and and 26 highway, but my experience so far has been about 18.5 and 24. Not that big of a deal I guess, but MPG was my #1 reason for making the switch. Only other downside so far is that there is no place for spare change, but now I'm just nitpicking... Great car, great price."

"I bought this car with 20,000 on it. It was in mint condition. Each day I drive it I am blown away by all the extras this car has in it. So luxurious and high quality. It is beautiful inside and.png. The other day I dropped my cell phone and when I went down to pick it up, I realized the car has a.heated steering wheel! It is just amazing.
The only con I would say is that when I pull off quickly or in rainy conditions the wheels spin loosing traction. Have no idea why, but I am learning to drive differently.."

"I have a Kia Sorento LX - Conv Pkg + 3rd Row car and been driving it for a month with 1000 Miles on it. My driving style is very gentle (never more than 3K RPM), Eco Green is ON all the time. Been on a 250 mile Long drive and got around 23. inside the City i drive on roads with just 2/3 signals and rest all are parkways...still i get an avg of 20MPG...!!! Very very bad...i got this car for claiming good fuel economy and it wont do that...!! Great warranty..but they also had at least 2 recalls in last 2 years. In these times fuel economy matters... else i would not mind spending more to get a Highlander..which also gives me same mileage. Infotainment is great..looks great...But bad mileage...If it doesn't improve..I'm going to put a sticker on car back reading " DON'T EVER BUY A KIA...IT'S BAD""

"I like the styling, inside and out. Expensive looking interior. Our model is loaded with lots of great features. Nice stable ride on the highway. The only thing we don't like is the suspension on side streets. Handles small bumps terrible when driving slow. Very rough ride. Kia needs to fix this."

"I bought a 2012 Sorrento that has a design flaw – brakes that make a grinding noise when braking. The dealer said that this is a known issue and has no current fix. Also my inside roof interior over the door had a bulge and tear. I brought it in and it looks no better after they said they fixed it."

"Kia 2012 Sorento purchased in Feb. 2012. 4cyl. 3rd row seating. We have had to take the car back to the dealer on 3 seperate occasions with the same problem that Kia seems to be having a hard time solving. I went to start the car, all the engine lights stayed on and it was diffucult to get the car into drive. we had the car towed, the kia dealer had it for 3 days and finally had to send their computer findings to Kia headquarters to get a diagnosis. Kia told the dealer to check all the grounds. We get the car back and 3 days later it happens again. Again Kia keeps for days, they can't find anything wrong. This time Kia engineers tell the dealer to replace the abs module which they do. 3 weeks later it happens again. You have to fight the dealer to get a rental car, they test drove our car for over 100 miles last time they had it eventhough we told them the problem occurs when you start the car, not while you're driving. My wife had a 2004 Kia Sorento that she traded in for this car and at this point she is sorry she didn't keep it."

"I bought this car on June 7, 2012, over a month ago. It is a beautiful car with a lot of good options like the rearview camera and turn signal lights found in expensive cars, in this Sorento 2012 Convenient Package, at a reasonable price. However the milage of 32 MPG for highway that I am looking for is hard to get. If I drive on highway at 50 to 60 MPH (just below engine 2000 RPM) coasting or easy foot on my gas pedal, I get this 31 to 33 MPG. I believe that this what the EPA test is supposed to be like. I drive 70 MPH and get about 24 to 25 MPG."

"Seems to be a nice car, and a good deal for the money. I might have waited to get a 2013 model, if I knew the were coming out so close to when I bought my 2012. My chief complaint is that there is no temperature gauge for outside temperature available on my model. Every other option that is available seems to come standard on this model. Some specialty items were not expected but all functional and necessary options are there except temperature."

"We looked for four months for a gas friendly, budget friendly, 3rd row friendly vehicle. The KIA Sorento met those desires. I calculated the 2012 LX w/convenience package (including the GDI engine) and 3rd row had the most value, least depreciation, and best gas mileage when compared to other models (as well as other makes/models). The new 2013 packages add-ons in a more complex way where you might be 'forced' to get an AWD if you want the GDI engine. Someone else might be able to comment on the validity of this, but that was the way I understood it from the KIA website. The GDI 191 hp engine is a must if you want maximum fuel economy while maintaining a reasonable amount of power. Thus far with 1500 miles, roughly 3.5 fill-ups and primarily city driving, we have averaged 23.5 mpg according to the dash computer. One thing to take into consideration is my wife has a heavy foot. I look forward to taking it on a road trip and seeing those numbers climb. Interior console storage is abundant and there are nooks and crannies in the front cabin space where you can store plenty of... well junk. Rear leg room, despite other consumer reviews, has proven sufficient. One negative comment I have is there is not a lot of glass in the back which makes for large blind spots. This makes the backup camera a must have. I prefer the backup camera in the rear view mirror as opposed to it showing up on a navigation screen (an option I did not look to buy anyway). One final comment I will make is, if you can, buy one slightly used (5-15k or so). The initial depreciation according to a few sites is fairly high. Let someone else take on that loss. After that it seems to maintain its value pretty well. Note here that is hard to find one used with the specs I have mentioned, which says something for the vehicle and brand. Kia is gaining more and more momentum. Grab one while they are undervalued."

"I am the oldest of 5 kids and I love hanging out with my family. For a single young person, this car provides style, durability and comfort and is still practical for life (great gas mileage lots of space). The only complaint would probably be the folding chair. It can be a bit difficult to work with but the third row seating is still very comfortable. Whether or not you have a big family, the Kia sorento is a perfect safe and practical suv :-)"
